Science in the Art of Pole Dance

This research arose from the author’s experiences as an artist-dancer, educator, and movement researcher and was developed through dialogues between theory and practice. The study relates the body parameter Dynamics, developed by Helenita Sá Earp, to the author’s research on Pole Dance and Physics, describing and analyzing forces, trajectories, accelerations, intensities, and principles such as Newton’s laws, torque, and friction in Pole Dance movements. The purpose is to facilitate understanding of movement, foster body awareness, and thereby broaden each person’s artistic expression through movement. The study reaffirms Pole Dance as a legitimate field of artistic, pedagogical, and scientific production and proposes connections among art, movement, and science based on practical experience and academic research.Published
